Panola County officials continue to monitor weather conditions. The Carthage Civic Center will remain open as a warming center until further notice.
Citizens are encouraged to contact Emergency Services if they are aware of individuals or families in need of assistance. If you know of anyone without power or adequate heat, food, or essential supplies, or who may need transportation to the warming center, please notify the Panola County Sheriff’s Office at 903-693-0333 so assistance can be coordinated.

After monitoring weather conditions and roadway safety throughout Panola County, county officials have determined that due to cold overnight temperatures, the Carthage Civic Center will operate as a warming center from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM.
The safety and well-being of our community remain a top priority. Citizens are encouraged to contact Emergency Services if they are aware of individuals or families in need of assistance. If you know of a family without power and lacking heat, food, or essential supplies, or who may require transportation to the warming center, please notify the Panola County Sheriff’s Office so assistance can be coordinated as quickly as possible.
County officials ask for the public’s patience and understanding as first responders are currently managing an overwhelming number of calls for service. Our emergency personnel are working tirelessly to respond to every call and provide assistance where it is needed.
